OVERVIEW
SAIC 비주얼 커뮤니케이션 디자인(VCD) 학과가 매년 발간하는 이 출판물은 졸업생들의 대표적인 작품들을 모아 소개합니다. 저명한 학과의 교수님의 디렉션 아래, 디자이너가 제안한 콘셉트를 기반으로 뛰어난 학생 작업들을 선별해 담았습니다. 경쟁적인 선발 과정을 거쳐 진행된 이 프로젝트는 VCD 학과의 창의성과 혁신을 기념하며, 학과의 유산에 의미 있는 발자취를 남깁니다.
The VCD Publication is an annual project by SAIC’s Visual Communication Design department, showcasing the best works of graduating students. Directed by Professor Mark Stammers, the publication curates outstanding student achievements through a concept-driven collection. Selected through a competitive process, this project celebrates the creativity and innovation of the VCD department and contributes to its growing legacy.
Concept
출판물의 콘셉트는 ‘빛과 그림자’로, 타이포그래피와 시각적 반사 효과를 통해 삶 속 빛과 어둠의 관계를 표현했습니다. 이는 예술가의 여정과도 맞닿아 있습니다. 훌륭한 작품 뒤의 지저분한 밑그림처럼, 삶은 끊임없이 오르내리며 불완전합니다. 어두운 팔레트와 스케일을 강조한 디자인의 신비롭고 압도적인 장엄함은 자연 자체를 닮아 있습니다. 마치 아름답지만 인간이 통제할 수 없는 존재와 같습니다. 궁극적으로, 이 출판물은 졸업을 맞이한 디자이너들에게 따뜻한 축하와 격려를 전하며, 그들의 새로운 여정을 응원하기 위해 제작되었습니다.
The publication’s concept, “Light and Shadow,” is expressed through typography and reflective effects, symbolizing the interplay of illumination and darkness in life. This duality reflects the artistic journey, where the imperfect underprints behind great works reveal the constant highs and lows of life. The design’s mysterious grandeur—with its dark palette and emphasis on scale—mirrors the power of nature: beautiful yet beyond human control. At its core, the publication embraces warmth and celebration, offering a meaningful sendoff to all graduating designers as they begin their next chapter.
